A (Brief) Literary Gift Guide

Because ’tis the season and all, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite literary-themed gifts. It should be noted that I personally own or have purchased for friends/family at LEAST half the items in this guide. The other half are on my personal “Ask Santa” list… I love them all!

T-Shirts and More:

I have long been obsessed with Out of Print, a company that prints classic novel covers on t-shirts, totes, mugs, and more. They’ve expanded their repertoire to include other literary-themed items (I love their library-card socks!). They have such a range of books from classic novels to children’s favorites. Literally something for everyone!

Another great literary t-shirt company is Lithographs. This Boston-based company prints a novel’s full text (but tiny) on their t-shirts, while maintaining an iconic design specific to the story. They too have a great range, from classic literature to popular YA. They’ve even branched out to include a few films.

Etsy probably deserves an entire category of its own, but here are a few of my current faves:

Tequila Mockingbird

And a little Harry Potter:

Pottery Barn Teen has an entire line dedicated to Harry Potter now. It’s not wrong that I think it’s cool even though I’m not a teen, right?

Bring Your Own Book: (I’ve played, it’s fun!)

Posters:

I’m a huge fan of Pop Chart Lab in general and they have some fantastic and so fun options for the literary-minded. Above is the “Fictive Beer” poster. They also have an amazing diagram of literature by genre, and a scratch-off “Greatest Novels” poster (you scratch off the novels as you read them). Love love love.
