And some more giveaways…

It is officially the end of summer. Vacation is done (mine was last week, so lovely), school is on the way (or already underway for some!), and with all the fall resolutions and restarts, I have less time for reading (which these days is saying something). So, for those of you in the same boat, I wanted to end the summer in style, which is why I’ve made it as easy as possible to pick up a copy of Dreamscape if you haven’t already.

Now through the end of the month, the ebook version is on sale for $0.99! I am also running a giveaway on Amazon (ebook) from now until August 31. Not a fan of ebooks? You can pick up the print version here or stay tuned for one final giveaway coming to Goodreads in early September!

Have you read Dreamscape yet? If so, please consider leaving me a review! Reviews are EVERYTHING to authors, but especially we newbies just starting out. For those who don’t know, if you garner enough Amazon reviews to satisfy their algorithm you eventually show up in their “suggested reads” and other lists. Please, please, please and thank you thank you thank you in advance!

Dreamscape - Ebook Only

And if you haven’t picked up a copy of Dreamscape yet, now is the perfect time! I am running an end-of-summer sale! For the next two weeks, Dreamscape on kindle/ebook will be only $0.99. So order up your copy or send one to a friend… or six??

My Favorite Fantasy Reads

In honor of Sci-Fi/Fantasy week on Goodreads and because I only recently saw this trailer for A Wrinkle In Time, which is one of my all-time favorite stories (and how amazing does it look, btw?) I thought I would list some of my favorite “classic” YA-ish Fantasy stories/series… and some currently on my “to read” list:

My Favorites From My Own Childhood:

  • The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis – I think this was the first set of books my mother read aloud to me as a child. So… formative to say the least!
  • His Dark Materials by Philip K. Pullman – Paradise Lost reimagined as a children’s story.
  • A Wrinkle Time (and sequels) by Madeline L’Engle – Did you see the trailer? I am so excited for this! Also, the sequel, A Wind In the Door.
  • The Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. LeGuin – I love everything Ursula K. LeGuin writes. Her Sci-Fi (not YA) is amazing but I love the characters and story of Earthsea. My fave is the second of the trilogy, The Tombs of Atuan.
  • Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling – We are currently reading these aloud to my sons. They are much too young but it’s the most fun my husband and I have had reading in ages.
  • The Prydain Chronicles by Llyod Alexander – this might be MG. It’s based on Welsh mythology so it feels like a kids’ version of Lord of the Rings. But Taran Wanderer (the fourth book of five), about Taran (our hero)’s attempts to figure out his place in the world has always resonated with me.
  • Westmark by Llyod Alexander – Ok, another Alexander series. Think Anastasia + the French Revolution. Definitely sets the stage for some of today’s most popular YA fantasies. (Because apparently I love the “middle” books best, may I recommend The Kestrel.)
  • Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan – because I was obsessed with Greek mythology as a child and then there was Percy!
  • Islandia by Austin Tappan Wright **Ok, not a YA (the main character is college-aged and onwards) but this was a fave of mine growing up. A cult classic and an long but interesting story!

Looking for something new-ish (or brand new)? This list came out in February but it has some great selections.

Anyway, happy reading!

Kerry
